Why a real site beats a platform profile
Behance, Dribbble and Instagram are good for being discovered. They are less good for being evaluated.
Your layout, not theirs. A portfolio on someone else's platform is your work inside their grid, their typography, their crop. For a designer that is a strange thing to accept.
Nothing competing for attention. No suggested profiles in the sidebar, no algorithm pulling the viewer somewhere else at the moment they are considering you.
An address you keep. Platforms change their layouts, their rules and occasionally their existence. A domain you own outlives all of that.
Use both. Post on the platform, link to the site.
If your portfolio came out of an AI tool
Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Lovable all produce static HTML and CSS — exactly what this hosts. The part that differs is getting the files out, and each tool handles that differently.
Before you send the link
Four things worth two minutes each.
Open it on your phone. Most people who click a portfolio link are on a phone. Check it there before anyone else does.
Check the link preview. Pasted into LinkedIn or a message, your link should show an image and a title rather than a grey rectangle. Fix your link preview →
Add a favicon. The tiny icon in the browser tab. Its absence is a small signal that reads as unfinished, particularly to other designers.

Not to start. Your sofast subdomain is a real, permanent address and it works fine for sharing. A custom domain is included on every plan, for the day a client or an employer is about to see it.

Storage depends on your plan. As a practical matter, compress large images before uploading — a portfolio full of uncompressed photographs is slow to open on mobile data no matter who hosts it.
Not at launch. If you need parts of your work private, keep those pages out of the upload and share them separately.
Yes — every plan covers at least two sites. Some designers run one general site and a second one aimed at a particular kind of client or role.
